Lamborghini Brief History
The Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.is an Italian brand and manufacturer for luxury-sports automobiles. The company is owned by the Volkswagen group through its subsidiary brand division the Audi. The company was founded in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy by Feruccio Lamborghini on 30 October 1963. Noted that in 2011, the company produces 1,711 vehicles with 831 employees.
Feruccio Lamborghini founded the Automobili Feruccio Lamborghini S.p.A. in order to compete established companies, including the Ferrari. In 1966, as a result of Miura sports coupé, the company gained wide acclaim. The company grew rapidly during its first decade, but as in 1973 worldwide financial downturn and the oil crisis make its sale plunged.
The company’s ownership changes three time after 1973, including bankruptcy in 1978. In 1978, after the bankruptcy, the American Chrysler Company took control of Lamborghini and sold it to Malaysian investment group Mycom Setdco and Indonesian group V’Power Corporation in 1994. Four years after the transaction, V’Power Corporation and the Mycom Setdco sold the brand to the Volkswagen which was under control of the Audi company.
